Welcome to Mrs. Nelson's Class!
My name is Mrs. Kimberly Nelson and I am a teacher. This website is designed to be a resource for classroom parents and early childhood educators.
Parents and Kids: If you are a classroom parent, I welcome you to our school family! I am excited to be your child's teacher this year and look forward to getting to know you. If you are looking for information about our classroom including our classroom handbook and supply list, please visit Our Classroom. Information is currently being updated for the 2008-2009 school year, so check back for changes. Kids, check out the online games in Just for Kids!
Teachers: If you are an early childhood teacher and are looking for ideas and activities to use in your classroom, "Welcome!". Please visit Teacher Resources to find resources for setting up your classroom, teaching reading, writing, and math, using developmental and literacy centers, and developing thematic units and story lessons. There are many printables on this site and many that you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download. Click below to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Classroom News
October 19, 2007 - Hello parents and students! It has been an exciting start to the new year. Today is October 19th and a day off for students. I am here at school today working on the many changes facets of our classroom. As students return to school next Monday, they will sit with new friends at new tables, experience new centers including a full center of laptop computers and independent use of our ActivBoard, and begin working in small groups and literacy centers. I am so looking forward to the progress that is being made. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! 941-426-6371 |
May 8, 2007 - My girlfriend, Lydia, and I just got back from Germany and Holland where we had an awesome time. We met some awesome people and had some unforgettable experiences. I visited Dortmund, Luenen, Duesseldorf, Muenster, and Cologne in Germany, as well as Volendam and Amsterdam in Holland. When can I go back!?

September 23, 2006 - Hi, it's been a while I've updated the news portion of the site. I've been very busy at work and Travis and I have been searching for a new home.
In the Classroom: We have been working on our Community Expedition for the last few weeks. Field work has included visiting Asheville's Urban Trail, touring the Post Office and mailing off our Traveling Buddy, and making pottery bowls for the Manna Food Bank. Lots of activities!
On the Website: I recently added some literacy centers with printables. I will be adding lots of pictures as I get the final products laminated and in use with my students. A new Yoga and Brain Gym section will also be added to the site. In July, I attended a YogaKids Teacher training and have used many poses and techniques with my students. They love it and it is a great behavior management tool. More to come! |
